Support beams are a Manufactured item in TFCraft. The are used support the ceilings of mines to prevent cave-in's, though they can also be used for decoration.

Obtaining
Clay generates under the ground in areas with a Rainfall value of at least 500. Breaking clay blocks with a shovel yields one to three clay items.

Clay is relatively common, but can be covered in grass, making it difficult to spot. Clay deposits can be located by the existence of Golden Rod flowers on the surface . Even if the Rainfall value in an area is too low for clay, riverbeds can generate clay.

There is also a small chance of one clay ball dropping when a  dirt block is broken.

Usage
Crafting
Clay is primarily used in the creation of Pottery. Most clay items need to be fired in a Pit Kiln or Kiln. Clay objects are created using an interface similar to knapping. To open this interface, right-click with a stack of 5 or more clay.
Both logs must be the same type, but any log in TFCraft can be used. Different types of wood will result in different types of beams, but this difference is purely cosmetic as they are work equally the same. Beams of different types of woods can attach to one another.

Usage
Tool & Weapon Molds
Support beams are used to prevent cave-ins and to hold up cobblestone and dirt. To be able to do this you need to have a horizontal section of support beam in place, having a single pillar of support beams will not prevent a cave in, or hold up any blocks.

Clay Tiles
Clay Tiles can be used to craft the Ceramic Tile Roof. They are made by crafting a log and two pieces of clay together.

Clay Bricks can be fired and then used to craft Clay Brick Blocks. They cannot be crafted into chimneys or walls, like Stone Bricks can.

Trivia
*Both clay and clay grass blocks are not affected by gravity, meaning that it is possible to dig into the side of a clay deposit to make a small starting shelter.

There are a few rules when placing support beams:
<gallery>
* Support beams must be built vertically at least three blocks high in order to build any horizontal beams.
File:Clay_Deposit.png|Clay deposit on a hillside with golden rod flowers.
* Support beams can be placed horizontally only if there is a vertical beam to attach to in the direction you are placing beams.
</gallery>
* Support beams can be placed up to five blocks horizontally before needing a vertical beam to attach to.
* Support beams can be placed vertically to any height.

A single horizontally placed support beam will hold up and prevent cave-ins in a 4x4 area on it's z-level, the z-level above it, and the z-level below it.  Note that the support beams will only work on the z-level it's placed on and one above it.  If there's ceilings around that are higher or lower than that, mining in that area can still cause a cave-in from those ceiling blocks.  Cave-in's that fall on the support beam block will break that block, and all other connecting horizontally placed support beams and continue to fall to the ground.  Additional broken support beams may then cause other cave-in's to occur.
