Obtaining

Fruit trees are found growing naturally in the wild in areas with an average biome temperature between 10 and 25, and a Rainfall value of at least 500.

Fruit trees can be found growing naturally in the wild in temperate areas with a high Rainfall values. Different regions will spawn different kinds of fruit trees. For example, Date fruit trees can be found growing in Africa. Fruit trees can be chopped to obtain Fruitwood.

In deserts, rain is doubled or set to 200 near water, whichever is higher. This allows fruit trees to generate in oases.

Propagation

To grow a fruit tree, the player must first obtain a fruit tree sapling. Fruit tree saplings can be obtained by placing 40 oz of the desired tree's fruit in the middle of a Large Ceramic Vessel. Then, put at least 2 dirt of any type in every other slot of the vessel. Once the fruit decays to 50% decay, a fruit tree sapling will replace the fruit, and 1 dirt from every slot will be consumed. The vessel should be left unsealed in order to let the fruit decay and for the sapling to grow. If the vessel is sealed, a sapling will not appear.

Coconut palms are propagated using the unrefined raw fruit (i.e. not the refined Coconut or Coconut Meat).

Usage

Fruit tree saplings do not grow instantaneously. One vertical block of the fruit tree will only grow every 2 months. A branch of the fruit tree will only every 1.5 months.[1]

Fruit trees will produce a single piece of fruit per leaf block during their harvest seasons. To harvest the fruit, Rmb.png Right Click or Lmb.png Left Click the leaves and the fruit will drop. All fruit trees drop pieces of fruit ranging from 4 to 16 oz in weight.

Banana trees given their own unique rendering
Added Papayas as a new type of fruit
Added Dates and Date Palms as a new type of fruit
Changed how fruit tree saplings are produced: place a large vessel on the ground. Put 2 or more dirt in every slot except the center slot. Put at least 40 oz of fruit in the center slot. Leave the vessel unsealed. Wait until the fruit reaches 50% decay.
Changed fruit tree generation so that they drop fruitwood logs when chopped down
Made crops, trees, and fruit trees spawn according to the region data

Trivia

  • Fruit trees only produce fruit when the current temperature is between 0 and 38.
