Body Temperature is shown by a thermometer on the bottom right side of the screen. The green area of the thermometer shows the player's comfort range. If the player is too hot or cold they will suffer negative effects such as Slowness, Mining Fatigue, and temporary lowering of [[Skills]]. They will also not be able to sleep in Straw Beds. Being too hot or cold will also cause the player to lose hunger and thirst faster as their bodies will "sweat" to keep cool or burn extra calories to stay warm. Prolonged or extreme heat or cold will cause the player to take damage and a countdown will appear near the thermometer. If the player doesn't escape the extreme heat or cold before the timer reaches zero, they will die.

Body temperature is affected in two ways: by changes in Ambient temperature and by changes in temperature resistance.
+

+
Ambient Temperature is shown on the thermometer as a highlighted cell that moves up and down. Several things can change the ambient temperature including: elevation, latitude, season, swimming in deep water, wearing wet [[clothing]], being under constructed or natural [[roof]]s, being in shade vs exposed to sun in hot climate, and being near an active firepit or forge.

Temperature Resistance is shown on the thermometer as a change in the size of the green comfortable area. Temperature Resistance comes from wearing [[Clothing]] or from drinking water. Drinking water will expand the comfortable range by +1 in the hot direction for a short time after drinking. Clothing can expand or shrink the comfort zone. For example, grass clothing expands it in the hot direction, meaning the player can tolerate hotter ambient temperatures. Wool clothing will expand the comfort zone in the cold direction, but will shrink it in the hot direction, meaning the player can tolerate cold, but will overheat in warm or hot ambient temperatures. With the right clothing it is possible to have a very wide comfortable zone.
