Metal Ingots can be welded on Anvilsone Tier lower than the Ingot. This allows for the player to weld Ingots into Double Ingots to create the next Tier of Anvil. All other smithing and welding must be done on an Anvil of equal or higher Tier.
¹For compatibility reasons, double ingots, sheets and double sheets can be made from any metal. However, not every item has a valid use. This chart shows items which have a valid use in vanilla TFC. If you make a useless item, it can be recycled back into molten metal in a Crucible, or in a Forge that has ceramic molds in the side slots.
²Unknown Metal is created by mixing an incorrect ratio of metals in a Crucible.
Obtaining
With the exception of wrought iron, pig iron and steel, non-alloy metals are obtained via smelting the source ore in a Vessel or a Crucible. Ores cannot be smelted in a forge.
Wrought Iron
Wrought Iron is obtained by working an Iron Bloom that has been created in a Bloomery.

Notes
Raw Iron Bloom >= 100%
Refine
Refined Iron Bloom
Work on at least a Tier 2 anvil.
Raw iron blooms that are less than 100% must be refined, and then welded with another refined bloom to make a larger bloom.
Refined Iron Bloom 200%
Split
Refined Iron Bloom 100% x2
Only needed for blooms over 100%. If starting bloom isn't a multiple of 100%, it will split into as many 100% blooms as possible as well as a single bloom with the remaining %. For example: A 360% bloom will split into 3 100% blooms and a single 60% bloom.
Refined Iron Bloom 100%
Hammer
Wrought Iron Ingot
Refined Iron Bloom <100% x2
Weld
Refined Iron Bloom
Weld 2 < 100% refined blooms to make one larger bloom. If the resulting bloom is over 100% it must be split into a 100% bloom and a <100% one. The smaller bloom can be welded with another one following the same process.
Note: Forges and Crucibles cannot get hot enough to melt refined iron blooms without the use of mechanized bellows.
Pig Iron
Pig Iron is obtained by smelting the source ore in a Blast Furnace.

Alloys
Alloys are created by mixing base metals in a Crucible. Early-game Bronzes can also be obtained by smelting a combination of source ores in a Vessel. See Pottery for more info.
Note: Only the listed ingredients can be mixed to create the valid alloy. Adding a completed alloy to a mixture of the alloy will result in useless Unknown Metal. (Example: Adding Unshaped Bronze to a correct mixture of Tin and Copper)

Casting
Item tool head can be casted from a Vessel with more than 100 units of a valid metal in it's liquid state or from a full liquidUnshaped ingot. Right click to open the casting UI and place the mold in the valid slot.
Place the ingot in the leftmost slot and your Ceramic Tool/Weapon Mold in the center slot. The arrow will progress and you will end up with your filled tool/weapon mold on the right, and if it didn't break, the empty ceramic mold on the left.
The Unshaped ingot interface can be use for combining partially filled ingot molds (both molds must be at liquid temperature).
Place the filled mold in a crafting grid to remove the head. The empty mold will be lost in the process.
Casting interface can now be opened with any liquid metal instead of just copper/bronzes. Interface can be used to cast tools using a full unshaped liquid ingot as well as for combining partially filled ingot molds.
Fixed shift clicking ingots out of molds not keeping temp data.
Fixed splitting 100% refined bloom. Plans now auto-select based on input if there is only one possible plan and select no plan if there is none available.
Added missing workable/weldable/danger message to metal sheets and bloom items.
