Use
The Thatch Roof is a solid block that works better than the Straw Block as a stone-age roof material. Not only does it block rain and mobs, it also gives a moderate cold protection bonus to players standing up to 10 blocks below.
Trivia
The Straw Block was previously called Thatch.
There is also no peak/ridge version of the thatch roof block. This might change if Dunkleosteus sees fit.
