Liquid pig iron can be poured into a Ceramic Mold to make unshaped pig iron. It takes 100 units of pig iron to completely fill an empty Ceramic Mold. Once the unshaped pig iron has cooled below it's liquid temperature, it can be placed in the crafting grid to create a pig iron Ingot which will inherit the temperature from the unshaped ingot in the Ceramic Mold. The empty mold will be returned to the inventory; although there is a small chance of it breaking and being lost, breakages are announced with the sound of pottery shattering similar to ceramic jugs.

Unshaped Pig Iron Pig Iron Ingot

Pig Iron Ingots are worked on a Tier 3 Wrought Iron Anvil to make High Carbon Steel Ingots as follows:

Pig Iron Ingot Hammer High-Carbon Steel Ingot

The High-Carbon Steel Ingots produced by working Pig Iron Ingots on an Anvil have to be worked further on a Tier 3 Wrought Iron Anvil to make useful Steel Ingots as follows:

High Carbon Steel Ingot Hammer Steel Ingot

Pig Iron Ingots are also required in the production of Black Steel, using a Tier 4 Steel Anvil to weld a Pig Iron Ingot to a Weak Black Steel Ingot to produce a High Carbon Black Steel Ingot as follows:

Pig Iron Ingot + Weak Black Steel Ingot Hammer High-Carbon Black Steel Ingot

The High-Carbon Black Steel Ingots produced by welding Pig Iron Ingots and Weak Black Steel Ingots together on an Anvil have to be worked further on a Tier 4 Steel Anvil to make useful Black Steel Ingots as follows:

High Carbon Black Steel Ingot Hammer Black Steel Ingot
