Obtaining
Torches are made by crafting a Stick, Straw, and Resin in a crafting table. This will create an Extinguished Torch, which can be lit by Right Clicking on an already placed lit torch, or on an lit firepit. Alternatively, Extinguished Torches can be placed, and lit with a Firestarter or Flint & Steel.

Right Click on a lit torch or lit firepit, or place and
Right Click with a firestarter or flint and steel to light the torch.
Note: Lit torches will set nearby things on fire! Be wary to remove all flammable blocks around the area before placing the torch. Use a Candle for indoor lighting instead.
Usage
Torches can be placed on the solid sides of most blocks, as well as on top of fences and stone walls. Unlike in vanilla, gravity affected blocks like dirt, cobblestone, sand and gravel cannot be supported by torches, and will fall and replace any torches that are directly underneath them.
Torches will sputter and light flammable blocks near them. For this reason, it is advisable to use Candles indoors, instead.
Light
Lit torches give off a light level of 14.Verify After a configurable amount of time (Default: 48 hours), or if directly exposed to rain, lit torches will burn out and no longer produce light. Torches can also be manually extinguished with a Right Click from an empty hand.
Relighting
Torches in the inventory can be used to Right Click on placed torches to either relight burned out torches, or restart the countdown timer on lit torches.
Fire
Torches that have been dropped on the ground will light a pit kiln or log pile on fire. Flying ember particles will appear for a short period of time before the fire block appears. This is a crucial step in the production of charcoal.
Note: If torch burnout is disabled in the config, torches won't set things on fire.
