General

Clothing maintains body temperature by providing heat resistance or cold resistance bonuses when worn. Items such as hats, shirts, pants, socks, boots, sandals, robes, and coats can be crafted.

Coats or robes, boots or sandals, leather pants, and fur hats are worn in the armor slots. Cloth shirts, pants, and socks can be worn underneath armor in the clothing slots (invisible slots to the right of the armor slots). Cloth hats can be worn either in the head armor slot, or in the head clothing slot.

Raw materials used for clothing are grass, fur, leather, wool, linen, or silk. Craft clothing pieces by holding raw materials in your hand and clicking on the ground. For all materials except grass, you will also need a knife in your inventory. This will open a knapping interface that lets you cut the materials into pieces of the proper shape. The resulting pieces are assembled into completed clothing by sewing them together with a needle and thread. Grass clothing does not need to be sewn.

Grass Clothing

Grass clothing gives heat resistance with the exception of the grass cloak, which gives cold resistance. Craft grass clothing by right-clicking the ground while holding holding 5 or more straw in your hand. Grass clothing does not require sewing. These items have lower durability than other clothing, but are easy to make.

Straw Hat

The straw hat gives a small heat resistance bonus. If a straw hat is crafted in the Asia region, it will have a prism shape instead of the default flat top shape.

Grass Shirt

The Grass Shirt gives a small heat resistance bonus.

Grass Skirt

The Grass Skirt gives a small heat resistance bonus.

Grass Sandals

Grass Sandals give a small speed bonus on sand.

Grass Cloak

The Grass Cloak gives a moderate cold resistance bonus and a moderate heat resistance malus. It is worn on the back slot (invisible slot to the left of the chest armor slot. This means it is not possible to wear the Grass Cloak and carry a large ceramic vessel or barrel at the same time.

Fur Clothing

Fur clothing gives cold resistance. Craft fur clothing pieces by right-clicking the ground while holding 1 or more fur in your hand while you have a knife in your inventory. Furs are dropped when bears or wolves die. When a large fur is cut for clothing pieces, it returns a medium fur. When a medium fur is cut, it returns a small fur. This means a large fur can be cut into three clothing pieces. Furs can also be crafted with a knife in the crafting grid to get a rawhide of the same size.

Fur clothing pieces must be sewn together to create finished clothes.

Fur Hat

The Fur Hat gives a small cold resistance bonus. It is crafted with two fur hat pieces.

Fur Coat

The Fur Coat gives a large cold resistance bonus, but also makes you less resistant to heat. The cold resistance bonus and heat resistance malus are higher for the bear fur coat. It is crafted with one fur coat front, one fur coat back, and two fur shirt sleeves.

Fur Boots

The Fur Boots give a small cold resistance bonus and a small speed bonus. They are crafted with two fur boot soles and two fur boot top pieces.

Leather Clothing

Leather Clothing gives a small amount of armor instead of heat or cold resistance and is worn in the armor slots. Craft leather clothing pieces by right-clicking the ground while holding 1 or more leather in your hand while you have a knife in your inventory.

Leather clothing pieces must be sewn together to create finished leather clothes.

Leather Cap

The Leather Cap gives +1 protection and is made from two leather hat pieces.

Leather Tunic

The Leather Tunic gives +3 protection and is made from two leather shirt bodies and two leather shirt sleeves.

Leather Pants

Leather Pants give +2 protection and are made from two leather pants pieces.

Leather Boots

Leather Boots give +1 protection plus a small speed bonus, and are made from one leather boot soles and two leather boot tops.

Leather Sandals

Leather Sandals give a small speed bonus, plus an extra speed bonus on sand. They are made with one leather boot soles and two leather straps.

Wool Clothing

Wool clothing gives cold resistance bonuses and heat resistance maluses. There is an additional heat resistance malus for wearing multiple wool items. Craft wool clothing pieces by right-clicking the ground while holding 1 or more wool cloth in your hand while you have a knife in your inventory. Wool cloth is woven from wool yarn on the loom.

Wool clothing pieces must be sewn together to create finished clothes.

Wool Hat

The Wool Hat gives a small cold resistance bonus. It is crafted with two Wool Hat Pieces.

Wool Shirt

The Wool Shirt gives a small heat resistance bonus and is made from two Wool Shirt Bodies and two Wool Shirt Sleeves.

Wool Pants

Wool Pants give a small cold resistance bonus and are made from two Wool Pants Pieces.

Wool Coat

The Wool Coat gives a strong cold resistance bonus, but also gives a moderate heat resistance malus. It is crafted with one Wool coat front, one Wool coat back, and two Wool shirt sleeves.

Wool Robe

The Wool Robe gives a very strong cold resistance bonus, but also gives a moderate heat resistance malus. It is crafted with two Wool coat backs, and two Wool shirt sleeves.

Wool Socks

Wool Socks give a small cold resistance bonus and are made from two Wool Sock Cloths.

Linen Clothing

Linen clothing gives heat resistance. Craft Linen clothing pieces by right-clicking the ground while holding 1 or more linen cloth in your hand while you have a knife in your inventory. Linen cloth is woven from linen string on the loom.

Linen clothing pieces must be sewn together to create finished clothes.

Silk Clothing

Silk clothing gives heat and cold resistance. Craft Silk clothing pieces by right-clicking the ground while holding 1 or more Silk cloth in your hand while you have a knife in your inventory. Silk cloth is woven from silk string on the loom.

Silk clothing pieces must be sewn together to create finished clothes.
