General

Clothing maintains body temperature by providing heat resistance or cold resistance bonuses when worn. Items such as hats, shirts, pants, socks, boots, sandals, robes, and coats can be crafted.

Outerwear like coats and robes, boots and sandals, leather armor, and straw or fur hats are worn in the armor slots. Cloth hats, shirts, pants, and socks are worn in the clothing slots (invisible slots to the right of the armor slots). If the player is wearing an item in the armor slot, the clothing slot cannot accessed. You must remove the outer layer to put on or take off clothing beneath it.

Raw materials used for clothing are grass, fur, leather, wool, linen, or silk. Craft clothing pieces by holding raw materials in your hand and clicking on the ground. For all materials except grass, you will also need a knife in your inventory. This will open a knapping interface that lets you cut the materials into pieces of the proper shape. The resulting pieces are assembled into completed clothing by sewing them together with a needle and thread. Grass clothing does not need to be sewn.

Clothing loses 1 point of durability per day when worn for any portion of a day (except the day it is created). Fur clothing doesn't degrade if the ambient temperature is below freezing the whole time. When you are on fire, clothing degrades every few seconds. Grass clothing degrades faster than cloth clothing while you are burning.

Robes give a 10% penalty to sprint speed, but no penalty to walk speed.

Completed articles of clothing can be dyed in a barrel of dye to change their color.

Materials

Grass clothing gives heat resistance with the exception of the grass cloak, which gives cold resistance. Craft grass clothing by right-clicking the ground while holding holding 5 or more straw in your hand. Grass clothing does not require sewing. These items have lower durability than other clothing, but are easy to make.

Fur clothing gives cold resistance. Craft fur clothing pieces by right-clicking the ground while holding 1 or more fur in your hand while you have a knife in your inventory. Furs are dropped when bears or wolves die. When a large fur is cut for clothing pieces, it returns a medium fur. When a medium fur is cut, it returns a small fur. This means a large fur can be cut into three clothing pieces. Furs can also be crafted with a knife in the crafting grid to get a rawhide of the same size. Fur clothing pieces must be sewn together to create finished clothes.

Leather Clothing gives a small amount of armor instead of heat or cold resistance and is worn in the armor slots. Craft leather clothing pieces by right-clicking the ground while holding 1 or more leather in your hand while you have a knife in your inventory. Leather clothing pieces must be sewn together to create finished leather clothes.

Wool clothing gives cold resistance bonuses and heat resistance maluses. There is an additional heat resistance malus for wearing multiple wool items. Craft wool clothing pieces by right-clicking the ground while holding 1 or more wool cloth in your hand while you have a knife in your inventory. Wool cloth is woven from wool yarn on the loom. Wool clothing pieces must be sewn together to create finished clothes.

Linen clothing gives mixed cold and heat resistance bonuses and maluses. Craft Linen clothing pieces by right-clicking the ground while holding 1 or more Linen cloth in your hand while you have a knife in your inventory. Linen cloth is woven from Linen string on the loom. Linen clothing pieces must be sewn together to create finished clothes.

Silk clothing gives mixed cold and heat resistance bonuses. Craft Silk clothing pieces by right-clicking the ground while holding 1 or more Silk cloth in your hand while you have a knife in your inventory. Silk cloth is woven from Silk string on the loom. Silk clothing pieces must be sewn together to create finished clothes.

Hats

Straw, fur, and leather hats are worn in the head armor slot. Linen, wool, and silk hats are worn in the head clothing slot.

Straw Hat The straw hat gives a small heat resistance bonus. More durability than other grass clothing. Variant style if crafted in Asia.	Fur Hat 2 The Fur Hat gives a small cold resistance bonus. It is crafted with two fur hat pieces.	Leather Cap 2 The Leather Cap gives +1 protection and is made from two leather hat pieces.
Wool Hat 2 The Wool Hat gives a small cold resistance bonus. It is crafted with two Wool Hat Pieces.	Linen Hat 2 The Linen Hat gives a small heat resistance bonus. It is crafted with two Linen Hat Pieces.	Silk Hat 2 The Silk Hat gives a small heat and cold resistance bonuses. It is crafted with two Silk Hat Pieces.

Shirts

The Grass Shirt gives a small heat resistance bonus.

Leather Tunic

The Leather Tunic gives +3 protection and is made from two leather shirt bodies and two leather shirt sleeves.

Wool Shirt

The Wool Shirt gives a small heat resistance bonus and is made from two Wool Shirt Bodies and two Wool Shirt Sleeves.

Linen Shirt

The Linen Shirt gives a small heat resistance bonus and is made from two Linen Shirt Bodies and two Linen Shirt Sleeves.

Silk Shirt

The Silk Shirt gives a small heat and cold resistance bonuses and is made from two Silk Shirt Bodies and two Silk Shirt Sleeves.

Coats

Fur Coat

The Fur Coat gives a large cold resistance bonus, but also makes you less resistant to heat. The cold resistance bonus and heat resistance malus are higher for the bear fur coat. It is crafted with one fur coat front, one fur coat back, and two fur shirt sleeves.

Wool Coat

The Wool Coat gives a strong cold resistance bonus, but also gives a moderate heat resistance malus. It is crafted with one Wool coat front, one Wool coat back, and two Wool shirt sleeves.

Linen Coat

The Linen Coat gives a small cold resistance bonus and a small heat resistance malus. It is crafted with one Linen coat front, one Linen coat back, and two Linen shirt sleeves.

Silk Coat

The Silk Coat gives a moderate heat resistance bonus. It is crafted with one Silk coat front, one Silk coat back, and two Silk shirt sleeves.

Robes

Wool Robe

The Wool Robe gives a very strong cold resistance bonus, but also gives a moderate heat resistance malus. It is crafted with two Wool coat backs, and two Wool shirt sleeves.

Linen Robe

The Linen Robe gives a moderate cold resistance bonus and a small heat resistance malus. It is crafted with two Linen coat backs and two Linen shirt sleeves.

Silk Robe

The Silk Robe gives a moderate heat resistance bonus and a small cold resistance bonus. It is crafted with two Silk coat backs and two Silk shirt sleeves.

Grass Cloak

The Grass Cloak gives a moderate cold resistance bonus. It is worn on the back slot (to the left of the chest armor slot).

Pants

Grass Skirt The Grass Skirt gives a small heat resistance bonus.	Leather Pants Leather Pants give +2 protection and are made from two leather pants pieces.	Wool Pants Wool Pants give a small cold resistance bonus and are made from two Wool Pants Pieces.
Linen Pants Linen Pants give a small cold resistance bonus and are made from two Linen Pants Pieces.	Silk Pants Silk Pants give a small heat resistance bonus and are made from two Silk Pants Pieces.

Socks

Wool Socks Wool Socks give a small cold resistance bonus and are made from two Wool Sock Cloths.

Linen Socks Linen Socks are made from two Linen Sock Cloths. They give a small speed bonus when worn with boots.

Silk Socks Silk Socks give a small heat resistance bonus and are made from two Silk Sock Cloths.

Boots

Grass Sandals give a small speed bonus on sand.

Fur Boots

The Fur Boots give a small cold resistance bonus and a small speed bonus. They are crafted with two fur boot soles and two fur boot top pieces.

Leather Boots

Leather Boots give +1 protection plus a small speed bonus, and are made from one leather boot soles and two leather boot tops.

Leather Sandals

Leather Sandals give a small speed bonus, plus an extra speed bonus on sand. They are made with one leather boot soles and two leather straps.
