Appearance

Ibex are medium sized mobs with yellowish fur, narrow eyes and curled horns. Males have large horns that curl backwards and grow in length with age. Females have much smaller horns. Goats are of a similar size and shape but have whiter fur, shorter horns, and the females have more prominent udders.

Behavior

Ibex spawn in hilly and mountainous biomes, often in drier areas of the world. They are neutral mobs and like other wild animals they try to avoid being out in the rain and sleep at night. If a player attacks an ibex it will fight back by headbutting the player, dealing a large amount of damage and knocking them back. Ibex can be fast, but will not deal as much damage nor knockback as a horse or aurochs, nor do thy have as much health. However they can still be very dangerous, so caution and ranged weapons are still recommended. Ibex will not continue attacking after the first retaliatory strike.

Usage

Ibex provide more types of useful resources than all other neutral mobs and can be used to provide the player with meat, milk, bones, and Fur or hide. Female goats can be milked once every five days by the player once. Female ibex cannot be milked and must be Familiarized into domestication instead. Milking done by holding either a Wooden Bucket or Ceramic Bucket and right-clicking on the goat’s udder. Milking a goat also increases its familiarity rating. Milk can be drunk or further processed into Cheese.

Breeding

Main article: Animal Husbandry

Ibex can be bred with all grains. Ibex require at least 6 days of familiarization to be bred. Pregnancy lasts for 5 months and 4 days, after which 1-3 kids are born. Ibex babies can be familiarized up to 100% with any grain, this would require at least 8 days.

An ibex born to a female whose familiarity is at 100% will be born as a Goat instead. Goats do not have to be familiarized in order to be bred and will not attack the player back if hit. As well, Goats can be milked.

Milk

Milk is a Fluid and a Food gathered by holding an empty Bucket in hand and Rmb.png Right Click-ing on a Familiarized adult female Aurochs or Goat. This will return one full Bucket of Milk, which can be drunk directly from a Bucket, Ceramic Jug, or Glass Bottle to restore Hunger, Thirst, and Nutrition (Dairy), or placed into a Barrel or Large Ceramic Vessel, where it can be stored indefinitely or curdled by the addition of Vinegar and sealed to craft Cheese.
