Flax Fibers, Cotton Bolls, and Wool can be crafted into Linen String, Cotton Yarn, or Wool Yarn by placing them in the crafting grid with a Spindle.

Strings are not made from Jute or Sisal Fibers.

Silk String drops when a spider is killed. Sinew drops from various non-monster mobs.
